Buon Ma Thuot – global coffee destination

-The 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will open Sunday in Buon Ma Thuot city and several other localities in Dak Lak province. With the theme “Buon Ma Thuot: Destination of World Coffee,” the festival aims to celebrate Vietnam’s rich coffee heritage and strengthen its global standing in the coffee industry.

This year’s festival commemorates the 50th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot Victory Day and the liberation of Dak Lak province. It has an exciting lineup of activities, with some fresh and innovative elements that set it apart from previous editions of the festival.

There will be a digital content creation contest to promote the festival online, a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Trung Nguyen Legend Energy Coffee Factory, and a coffee camp at the historic CADA Plantation in Krong Pac district. Construction will start on a commercial center-hotel-accommodation complex and the Phu Xuan industrial park infrastructure project, two economic landmarks for the region.

Vanusia Noguiera, General Director of the International Coffee Organization will attend the opening ceremony of the festival on Monday. The first time presence of a high-profile international representative will highlight Vietnam’s rising influence in the global coffee market. The opening night will feature a spectacular 15-minute fireworks display, and a light festival on Wednesday will showcase a breathtaking performance of 500 high-tech drones illuminating the night sky.

To amplify the festival’s reach, the Organizing Committee has invited H’Hen Nie, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 and Dinh Thi Hoa, Miss Vietnam Tourism Ambassador 2024, as media ambassadors.

Dinh Thi Hoa said:"As a Dak Lak native, I’m honored to be a media ambassador for the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival. This is not only Vietnam’s largest coffee festival but also the most significant in Asia. Together with my team and the Organizing Board I’ve created several video clips to promote Dak Lak’s coffee culture and tourism to domestic and international visitors."

Coffee is one of Vietnam’s top 10 agricultural exports. In 2024, Vietnam’s coffee export revenue exceeded 5.4 billion USD, with Dak Lak province contributing 1.2 billion USD.
